One of the most useful pipes that I've used so far is the text message to Trello. When I text message a certain number, my text message is automatically added to Trello. Although the phone number I text is a random one assigned by PipeThru, I can save it as a contact in my phone for handy reference. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Trello, it is a fantastic to-do organize anything web app that I've seen. Trello has become a wonderful extension of my brain.
When I find myself at networking events, this pipe is incredibly useful. I always have my phone with me, but rarely any other device to record notes such as an iPad, or even a notepad and a pen. Whatever connection we make, whether the connection is an idea, contact information, or whatever, I simply send a quick text and forget about it. After I come home after the event, I have a tidy list of things to do and people to contact.
You could also text notes to Google Drive or Dropbox. I chatted with a friend of mine at Bull City Co-working about this very thing. While out at a job-site, he'll need to take notes, but will not find a pencil and paper handy. He'll need to record notes about hours worked, things completed, and things to pickup or buy for the next visit. This saves him an enormous amount of time and, I imagine, a great deal of sanity.
If you want to give this particular pipe a try, please get started now!
